Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president Nitin Nabin began a two-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir on July 6, 2026. The visit aims to hold discussions with party leaders and review the organisation's network across the Union Territory.
Purpose of the Visit
Nabin's itinerary includes meetings with senior BJP leaders from the Jammu and Kashmir unit to assess the party's grassroots presence and strengthen its organisational framework. The visit is part of the BJP's ongoing efforts to consolidate its position in the region following the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019.
Key Discussions Planned
According to party sources, the BJP president will hold closed-door sessions with district-level functionaries and review the implementation of central schemes in the Union Territory. The discussions are expected to focus on upcoming assembly elections and strategies to counter opposition narratives.
“Nitin Nabin ji's visit underscores the party's commitment to Jammu and Kashmir's development and integration with the national mainstream,” said a senior BJP leader, requesting anonymity.
Organizational Review
The review will cover the party's booth-level committees, membership drives, and outreach programmes. Nabin is also expected to interact with women and youth wings of the party to boost their participation in political activities.
The visit comes amid heightened political activity in J&K, with several parties preparing for the next assembly elections. The BJP has been working to expand its base in the Jammu region and make inroads into the Kashmir Valley.
