A major political controversy erupted after the Bharatiya Janata Party launched a scathing attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for his remarks targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. During an event in Raebareli, Gandhi referred to both leaders as 'traitors' while criticizing them on various issues.
BJP's Strong Reaction
Reacting sharply, BJP president Nitin Nabin said the remarks exposed Gandhi's 'anarchic mindset and character.' He linked the comments to the Congress party's electoral defeats, stating that such language reflects a lack of respect for democratic norms. Nabin termed the statement an insult to the country's 140 crore citizens and questioned the use of such language against a leader credited with curbing terror incidents, ending Naxalism, and enhancing the respect of the national flag.
Demand for Apology
Nabin demanded that Rahul Gandhi apologize to the people of India for his remarks. He emphasized that calling the Prime Minister and Home Minister traitors is not only unacceptable but also undermines the nation's unity and security. The BJP leader accused Gandhi of displaying an anarchic mindset that is detrimental to political discourse.
The Congress party has not yet responded to the BJP's allegations. Meanwhile, the ruling party has used the incident to highlight what it calls the opposition's tendency to resort to personal attacks when faced with electoral setbacks.
