The body of a man who drowned in Ilthanpada Dam at Digha in Navi Mumbai was recovered on Friday following a multi-agency search and rescue operation, a senior civic official said.
Alert and Initial Response
The Airoli fire station received an alert about a youth drowning in the dam on Thursday, which prompted the initiation of a search and rescue operation, according to Sachin Kadam, chief of the Navi Mumbai Regional Disaster Management Cell (RDMC).
Search Operation Details
The search operation was suspended on Thursday night due to poor visibility. It resumed on Friday morning and led to the retrieval of the body from the dam waters at approximately 3:20 pm, Kadam added.
The on-site deployment included one rescue vehicle each from the Airoli Fire Brigade and MIDC Fire Brigade, as well as a team from the Thane Disaster Response Force (TDRF).
Kadam stated that the coordinated efforts of multiple agencies were crucial in locating and recovering the body. The identity of the deceased has not been disclosed pending notification of the family.
