Ahmedabad: The Bopal police on Saturday apprehended a 19-year-old youth and took a minor into custody for their suspected involvement in a burglary at a bungalow located in the Shilaj area of the city. Authorities recovered stolen valuables valued at approximately Rs 5.2 lakh from the suspects.
Incident Details
The case was registered at the Bopal police station on Thursday. According to investigators, the theft occurred on June 3 between 8am and 10.30am at a bungalow in Swagat Bagan Villa on Shilaj-Rancharda Road.
The complainant, Sujit Shah, 55, stated that he had left for work in the morning and returned home around 2.30pm for lunch. His wife informed him that the domestic help had arrived around 8am and left by approximately 10.30am. Suspecting something was wrong, Shah checked an upstairs bedroom and discovered that a locker from the cupboard was missing.
Stolen Items
The complaint listed the stolen items as: Rs 1.1 lakh in cash, a gold bangle worth about Rs 2 lakh, five silver coins valued at nearly Rs 10,000, passports of Shah, his wife Kinjal, and daughter Bhavya, and a cheque book from The Ahmedabad Mercantile Co-operative Bank.
Arrests and Recovery
Acting on human intelligence inputs, police rounded up two suspects: Jayesh Damor, 19, a native of Dungarpur, and a minor. The police recovered Rs 5.2 lakh from them. Police also reported that another accused, Dhanraj Khant, also from Dungarpur, is currently absconding.
