Boulder Kills 2 Rajasthan Tourists in Pithoragarh

A tragic accident in Pithoragarh district claimed the lives of two tourists from Rajasthan's Kota district and left three others seriously injured on Friday. The incident occurred around 1:30 pm when a boulder crashed onto their Bolero vehicle near Pampabe, approximately 42 km from Dharchula.

Details of the Incident

The tourists, all members of the same family, were returning from Panchachuli Base Camp in Darma Valley. They had earlier visited the Adi Kailash and Om Parvat pilgrimage sites and were on their return journey when the mishap took place. Authorities confirmed that two occupants, including the driver, died on the spot. The three injured passengers were rescued and shifted to the sub-district hospital in Dharchula for medical treatment.

Rescue Operations

Police, revenue officials, and local rescue teams rushed to the spot after receiving information about the accident. They launched rescue operations to clear debris and evacuate the injured from the damaged vehicle. Preliminary investigations suggest that the boulder dislodged from a hillside and struck the moving vehicle, though the exact circumstances leading to the incident are being examined. Officials added that the victims' identities were being verified.
