CBI Directs TVK President Vijay to Appear in New Delhi for Third Round of Questioning
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has issued a fresh summons to TVK president Vijay, requiring him to appear before the agency on March 15 for the third round of questioning related to the Karur stampede case. This development comes after Vijay sought additional time, citing pressing election-related commitments that have intensified his schedule.
Venue Request Denied as CBI Insists on New Delhi Appearance
In a significant move, the CBI has firmly turned down Vijay's request to conduct the questioning in Chennai or any other location within Tamil Nadu. Instead, the agency has directed him to appear at its office in New Delhi, underscoring the seriousness of the investigation and the need for a centralized approach to the proceedings.
Former DMK Minister V Senthilbalaji to Appear on March 17
Meanwhile, former DMK minister V Senthilbalaji, who has also been summoned by the CBI in connection with the same case, has confirmed that he will appear before the agency on March 17. Senthilbalaji addressed the situation in a social media post, stating, "I will appear in person and give clarifications to their questions." He noted that there have been contradictory reports circulating about the nature of the CBI summons issued to him, adding a layer of complexity to the ongoing probe.
Political Tensions Escalate as TVK Leader Points Finger at DMK
Responding to inquiries about the notice served to Senthilbalaji, TVK joint general secretary C T R Nirmal Kumar asserted that the DMK leader should be the primary focus of the investigation. "Several ministers, a central team, and BJP state president Nainar Nagenthran have alleged that Senthilbalaji was the reason behind the stampede," Kumar emphasized, highlighting the political friction surrounding the case. This statement reflects the heightened tensions between political factions in Tamil Nadu as the CBI delves deeper into the incident.
The Karur stampede case has drawn significant attention, with the CBI's persistent efforts to gather testimonies from key figures. As the investigation progresses, the upcoming appearances of both Vijay and Senthilbalaji are expected to provide further insights into the events that led to the tragic incident, potentially influencing the political landscape in the region.
