Chhattisgarh Makes 'Godaan' Film Tax-Free, Boosts Cattle Welfare

Chhattisgarh Government Declares 'Godaan' Film Tax-Free in State

In a significant move highlighting the state's commitment to cattle welfare, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai announced on Tuesday that the upcoming film Godaan will be made tax-free in the state. The announcement came during the trailer launch event held at the chief minister's residence office in Raipur.

Film Centered on 'Gau Mata' Receives Government Backing

Godaan is described as the first cinematic work centered on the theme of Gau Mata (cow), which holds deep spiritual reverence in Indian culture. Chief Minister Sai emphasized that his government is dedicated to the protection and promotion of cattle, recognizing their value not just spiritually but also economically and scientifically.

Enhanced Support for Cattle Shelters and Conservation

During the event, Sai detailed several initiatives aimed at bolstering cattle welfare in Chhattisgarh:

  • Increased per-cow fodder grant from ₹20 to ₹35 for cattle shelters (gaushalas)
  • Financial assistance of ₹25 lakh provided to gaushalas to improve infrastructure
  • Establishment of Godham facilities to house and care for stray cattle

The chief minister stressed the importance of wider public awareness around cattle conservation, noting that organic manure made from cow dung serves as the foundation for organic farming practices. He highlighted cinema as a powerful medium to convey positive messages to broader audiences about the significance of cattle in Indian society.

Film Production and Release Details

Godaan is produced by Kamdhenu Film Productions and is scheduled for a nationwide theatrical release on February 6. Producer-director Vinod Chaudhary was present at the trailer launch event in Raipur, marking the film's official introduction to the public with government endorsement.

The Chhattisgarh government's decision to make the film tax-free represents a unique convergence of cultural promotion and policy implementation, aiming to foster greater appreciation for cattle conservation through cinematic storytelling.
