CITU Leader Advocates for Working Class Resistance in Karnataka

CITU national secretary KN Umesh emphasized that the liberation of the working class can only be achieved through organized struggle, resistance, and rejection of oppressive policies. He made these remarks during a one-day workshop at the Hassan division level, organized by the CITU Karnataka state committee on Monday.

Criticism of Ruling Class and Anti-Labor Policies

Umesh accused the ruling class of systematically stripping workers of their rights to protect their own interests, pushing them towards servitude. He highlighted that the working class has historically resisted such policies, successfully preserving labor laws through strong opposition. However, he warned that under the influence of imperialists, the ruling class is now not only abolishing labor laws but also transferring the country's wealth to corporate entities.

He called upon the district's working class to mobilize and organize a struggle against these actions, stressing the need for collective resistance to counter the threats posed by the current political and economic climate.

Global and Local Economic Crises

Umesh discussed the intensifying crisis of neo-liberalism worldwide, which he said leads to increased threats of war and skyrocketing prices, devastating the lives of ordinary people. He referenced the report from the recent CITU All India conference held in Visakhapatnam, detailing significant resolutions adopted to address these issues.

State-Level Concerns and Government Criticism

CITU state secretary K Mahantesh elaborated on the report from the CITU Karnataka state conference in Hassan, criticizing the Siddaramaiah government. He labeled it a 'debt-ridden' government that has betrayed the working class by implementing extremely stringent regulations under new labor codes. This move, according to Mahantesh, aligns with corporate interests at the expense of workers' rights.

Workshop Leadership and Attendance

The meeting was presided over by DK district president of CITU, BM Bhat. Key attendees included district general secretary Sunil Kumar Bajal, and CITU state leaders Suresh Kallagara and Chandrashekhar V Kundapur, underscoring the organizational support for the discussed initiatives.
