CJP Protest Day 21: Wangchuk Says Hunger Stabilised, Warns

On the 21st day of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protest, climate activist Sonam Wangchuk stated that his hunger has stabilised and issued a warning against any attempts to remove him. Speaking to reporters, Wangchuk said, "Today is the 13th day (of the fast). I am feeling okay. My hunger has stabilised. The initial days are difficult as the body adjusts to fasting. There is some tiredness, but otherwise I am fine."

Protest Continues in Ladakh

The protest, which began on June 20, 2026, has seen Wangchuk and his supporters demanding action on climate change and sustainable development in the Ladakh region. Wangchuk, known for his innovative ice stupa project, has been on a hunger strike since June 28, drawing attention to the cause.

Warning Against Removal

Wangchuk warned authorities against any attempt to forcibly remove him from the protest site. He stated that such an action would be met with resistance and could escalate the situation. The activist has been camping at a designated spot in Leh, where supporters have gathered in solidarity.
