Thrissur: Chief Minister V D Satheesan offered prayers at the Guruvayur Sri Krishna temple on Sunday, marking his first visit to the temple after assuming office. He is the first Chief Minister of Kerala to enter the temple since the late Congress leader K Karunakaran, with a gap of three decades.
Thulabharam Offering
During his visit, Satheesan performed thulabharam at the temple, offering butter as part of the ritual. The Chief Minister entered the temple with minimal security and took time to interact with devotees both inside and outside the temple premises.
Attends Wedding Ceremony
Following his temple visit, Satheesan attended the wedding of Revenue Minister A P Anilkumar's son, which was also held in Guruvayur. The Chief Minister's visit was seen as a significant gesture, bridging a long gap of high-profile political visits to the revered temple.
The temple visit comes amid ongoing discussions about the role of political leaders in religious spaces. Satheesan's low-profile approach and direct engagement with the public were widely appreciated by onlookers and devotees.
