Congress Leader Accuses CPM and BJP of Electoral Sabotage in Kerala

Ernakulam District Congress Committee president Mohammed Shiyas made serious allegations on Saturday. He claimed an unholy alliance exists between the CPM and BJP. This alliance aims to sabotage the upcoming assembly elections through voter roll manipulation.

Election Commission Acting Under BJP Directives

Shiyas spoke at a review meeting for 'Vijayotsavam 2026.' He stated the Election Commission is following BJP directives. Their actions are disenfranchising thousands of legitimate voters across Kerala.

The implementation of the new Systematic Inclusion of Residents system has caused widespread anomalies. In Ernakulam district alone, nearly eight lakh names have disappeared from voter lists. Officials claim they removed deceased or relocated individuals.

State-Wide Impact and Democratic Concerns

State-wide figures are even more alarming. Shiyas charged that over twenty-five lakh names have been purged across Kerala. He called this a blatant attempt to subvert democracy.

"We will not allow the Election Commission's hooliganism to continue," Shiyas declared. "They cannot snatch away the democratic rights of Kerala's people."

Procedural Flaws and Citizen Grievances

Many voters faced removal due to minor clerical errors. Thousands still await hearing notices despite the January twenty-second deadline for reapplying.

Shiyas questioned the land revenue commissioner's recent order. The commissioner wants to appoint supporting staff for hearings. Shiyas doubts this can happen given the critically short timeframe remaining.

Congress Response and Political Mobilization

The DCC president announced upcoming political actions. A grand celebration at Marine Drive will honor winners from recent local body elections. This event will also launch the UDF's official assembly election campaign.

Leader of the opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi will inaugurate the event on January nineteenth. Congress plans to intensify its agitation in coming days.

The party will organize massive protest marches toward district collectorates and central government offices. Congress urges all supporters and affected citizens to act quickly.

They must ensure their names return to voter lists before the deadline. This collective action will counter the alleged electoral sabotage.
