Congress Leader Files Formal Complaint Against PM Modi Over Doordarshan Broadcast

"As you are aware, assembly elections are currently underway in the states of Kerala, Puducherry, Tamil Nadu, Assam and West Bengal," Akkara wrote in his complaint addressed to the chief election commissioner. "Consequently, the model code of conduct is in effect across the country until May 6."
The complaint emphasizes that despite clear awareness of these regulations, Prime Minister Modi addressed the nation at 8:30 PM via Doordarshan, which operates under central government control. Akkara described this action as "a clear violation of the Representation of the People Act" and characterized it as "a punishable offense."
