Rohtak: Congress workers held a protest demonstration here on Tuesday against the rising fuel prices and recurring paper leak incidents. The protesters raised slogans against the BJP-led central government and submitted a memorandum to the President of India through ADC Narendra Kumar.
Protest led by district president
The demonstration was led by district president Kuldeep KD. All India Congress Committee (AICC) member Chakravarti Sharma alleged that Pradeep Kumar, appointed chairman of the National Testing Agency (NTA) by the BJP government, was associated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
Allegations against NTA chairman
Sharma claimed that Pradeep Kumar worked as a lecturer at Durgabai College in Jabalpur before being appointed as a member of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) and later its chairman. He is now serving as the chairman of the NTA. The NEET paper leak controversy surfaced in 2024, but despite allegations, Pradeep Kumar was not removed from his post, Sharma said.
RSS-linked coaching centres accused
Referring to the 2026 NEET paper leak controversy in Pune, Sharma alleged that several coaching centres in the city were being run by people linked to the RSS. He accused them of orchestrating a scam worth crores of rupees and betraying the youth of the country.
Fuel price hike condemned
Congress workers also flagged the consistent increase in diesel and petrol prices. They claimed that fuel prices had been raised by Rs 3 four days ago, followed by another Re 1 hike on Tuesday. Condemning the growing inflation, the protesters alleged that every policy of the BJP government had failed. They also claimed that the government itself had indicated a possible fuel shortage in the coming days.
Rahul Gandhi's warnings cited
Referring to Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the opposition in Lok Sabha, the protesters said he had earlier warned that the country would face inflation and fuel-related problems in the future, and those warnings were now proving true. Kuldeep KD alleged that paper leaks had become frequent during the BJP regime.
