Congress to Investigate Bihar MLAs' Abstention in Rajya Sabha Election

In Patna, Congress national spokesperson Abhay Dubey stated on Monday that the party leadership is set to take appropriate action regarding the abstention of three Bihar MLAs during the recent Rajya Sabha election. This incident resulted in the victory of the fifth NDA candidate, Shivesh Ram of the BJP.

Show-Cause Notices Issued to MLAs

Earlier, the three MLAs in question – Surendra Kushwaha, Manoj Biswas, and Manohar Prasad Singh – were served show-cause notices by the party's state chief, Rajesh Ram. They have been asked to explain their position within two days.

Dubey emphasized, The party will take appropriate action in the matter after investigation into the matter is completed. He added that the Congress believes in natural justice and has given the MLAs an opportunity for a hearing, adhering to party rules.

Allegations Against BJP and NDA

Dubey also criticized the BJP, alleging that it is in the process of replacing Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, despite the NDA's campaign slogan 2025 to 2030, Phir Se Nitish. He maintained that the Congress is not opposed to development but accused the NDA of influencing state assembly elections for partisan gains.

He highlighted issues such as special intensive revision of electors and distribution of money among women, stating, We had raised the issues involved during the Assembly elections. Eventually, in the ultimate count, Bihar's bright future has been stolen by the BJP.

Talent Hunt Programme Review

Dubey was in Patna to review the ongoing talent hunt programme of the party. He was accompanied by state chief Rajesh Ram, former state chief Madan Mohan Jha, and other functionaries including Ashish Nath Tiwari and Rajesh Rathore.

It was decided that talent hunt-related forms from new aspirants will be invited by March 31. The last phase of the competition, involving both old and new applicants, is scheduled for April 2, with the entire process to be completed by April 9.
