CPI's D Raja Accuses BJP of Undermining Fiscal Federalism, Criticizes Hindi Imposition
D Raja Slams BJP Over Fiscal Rights, Hindi Imposition in Tamil Nadu

CPI Leader D Raja Launches Scathing Attack on BJP Government

In a fiery campaign speech delivered on Monday, Communist Party of India (CPI) national secretary D Raja launched a comprehensive critique of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led central government. Addressing supporters while campaigning for DMK front candidates in the Saidapet and Kolathur constituencies of Chennai, Raja leveled serious allegations regarding fiscal mismanagement and cultural imposition.

Accusations of Fiscal Rights Erosion

D Raja directly accused the BJP administration of systematically dismantling fiscal federalism in India. "The BJP government is actively taking away the fiscal rights of the states," Raja declared emphatically. "Where is the fiscal federalism we were promised? States are being denied their legitimate and due share of funds."

He elaborated that this withholding of financial resources represents a fundamental breach of the cooperative federalism principle enshrined in the Indian Constitution. Raja argued that this creates an uneven playing field where state governments cannot effectively implement their welfare and development agendas due to deliberate central fund blockage.

Hindi Imposition Through Education Policy

Raja connected the fiscal issue to cultural concerns, specifically pointing to the New Education Policy (NEP). "Under the guise of implementing the New Education Policy, the BJP is aggressively imposing Hindi across non-Hindi speaking states," he stated. "When states like Tamil Nadu refuse to accept this linguistic imposition, the central government retaliates by stopping their funds. This is coercion, not cooperation."

Rebuttal to Piyush Goyal's Remarks

The CPI leader also took strong exception to recent comments made by Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal regarding Tamil Nadu's development status. "I openly challenge Piyush Goyal on his claims," Raja asserted. "In crucial sectors like education, healthcare, housing, and livelihood generation, Tamil Nadu stands as a leading state in the country. This is the tangible success of the Dravidian model of governance, which is receiving praise nationwide."

He further accused the BJP of disseminating falsehoods about Tamil Nadu's progress and claimed that AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami has joined forces with the BJP in this campaign of misinformation.

Warning on Hindu Rashtra and Praise for Ambedkar

Ahead of the observance of Ambedkar Jayanti, Raja invoked the legacy of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. "When Babasaheb Ambedkar was framing our Constitution, there were persistent and firm demands to declare India a Hindu rashtra," Raja recounted. "He categorically rejected this idea, warning that if India were to become a Hindu rashtra, it would result in a monumental calamity for the nation."

"What Dr. Ambedkar feared is unfolding before our eyes today," Raja continued. "The BJP represents that very calamity, actively pushing India toward becoming a Hindu rashtra, thereby threatening the secular, pluralistic fabric of our republic."

Endorsement of Tamil Nadu's Leadership

In contrast to his criticism of the central government, Raja offered fulsome praise for Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin and the state's administration. "The people of Tamil Nadu are experiencing genuine, pro-people governance thanks to Chief Minister Stalin," he said. "Unlike the Modi-led government at the Centre, which consistently works against the interests of the poor and marginalized, the Tamil Nadu government remains steadfastly welfare-oriented."

He concluded his address with a political prediction, stating, "The defeat of the BJP in Tamil Nadu will serve as a powerful precursor and send clear signals about Narendra Modi's impending defeat in the 2029 general elections."
