The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) in Jaipur has apprehended a foreign woman of African origin and confiscated narcotics with an estimated international market value of approximately Rs 2.56 crore. The arrest took place following a targeted operation based on specific intelligence inputs.

Details of the Seizure

The accused was intercepted on Tuesday while traveling on a Mumbai-bound bus originating from Delhi. During a thorough examination of her trolley bag, DRI officials recovered a significant quantity of illicit substances. The haul included 2,256 grams of methamphetamine, 142 grams of cocaine and methaqualone, and 46 grams of MDMA, commonly referred to as ecstasy tablets.

An officer, who spoke on condition of anonymity, disclosed that the drugs were ingeniously concealed within clothing, pillow covers, and other items inside the trolley bag to evade detection by law enforcement agencies. The estimated value of the seized narcotics in the illegal international market stands at around Rs 2.56 crore.

Investigation and Arrest

Preliminary investigations suggest that the woman was involved in transporting the contraband to other states as part of a larger trafficking network. Following the seizure, she was arrested under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.

The accused was produced before a court on Wednesday, which remanded her to judicial custody and ordered her imprisonment. Officials have indicated that further investigations are underway to identify other individuals linked to the smuggling racket, including suppliers, handlers, and members of the distribution network. The agency is also probing possible interstate and international connections of the syndicate.

Significance of the Operation

DRI officials have described this seizure as one of the significant anti-drug operations conducted by the Jaipur unit in recent months. The operation underscores the agency's commitment to combating drug trafficking and dismantling networks involved in the illegal drug trade.
