EC Suspends 5 Bengal Police Officers for Misconduct

The Election Commission on Friday ordered the immediate suspension of five police officers in Diamond Harbour Police District for alleged misconduct and failure to maintain neutrality during the Bengal assembly elections. The suspended officers are Sandip Garai, Additional SP; Sajal Mondal, SDPO; Mausam Chakraborty, IC of Diamond Harbour Police Station; Ajay Bag, IC of Falta Police Station; and Subhechha Bag, Officer-in-Charge of Usthi Police Station.

Disciplinary Action Initiated

The commission has directed that disciplinary proceedings be initiated against all five officers. Additionally, a warning has been issued to SP Ishani Pal for failing to ensure fairness and discipline among her subordinates in election-related duties. The state government has been instructed to send a compliance report by 11 am Saturday.
