ED Raids AAP MP Ashok Kumar Mittal's House in Punjab

Enforcement Directorate Conducts Raid at AAP MP Ashok Kumar Mittal's Residence in Punjab

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) executed a search operation on Wednesday at the house of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP Ashok Kumar Mittal in Punjab. Officials confirmed that the raid targeted his residence situated at 16, The Mall Road, Jalandhar Cantt, marking a significant development in the political landscape.

Timing of Raid Coincides with Leadership Transition

This action by the ED occurs merely days after the AAP designated Mittal as its deputy leader in the Rajya Sabha, succeeding Raghav Chadha. The timing has attracted considerable attention, given Mittal's newly-assigned parliamentary role, which underscores the ongoing restructuring within the party's leadership in the Upper House.

The AAP had formally initiated this change by writing to the Rajya Sabha Secretariat, requesting the removal of Raghav Chadha as deputy leader and that he no longer be allocated speaking time from the party's quota. Mittal, commenting on the leadership shift earlier, characterized such transitions as a "continuous process." He remarked, "Earlier, ND Gupta ji was deputy leader, then Raghav ji took over, and now I have been given the responsibility. Tomorrow, someone else may get the opportunity."
