A tragic incident occurred in Pyarepur Mishra Moiddinpur village under the Rampur Belauli police station limits of Mau on Thursday morning, where a man and his son were electrocuted while attempting to save the man's wife.
Details of the Incident
According to Mau ASP Anoop Kumar, Meena Devi (45) went to switch on the water pump at her house when she accidentally came into contact with a live wire, leading to electrocution. Hearing her screams, her husband, Devendra Mishra (48), rushed to rescue her but also got trapped in the electric current.
Seeing his parents in distress, their son Neeraj attempted to save them. The father and son managed to free Meena from the live wire. However, Devendra suffered severe burns during the rescue attempt, while the electric shock threw Neeraj several feet away, causing serious head injuries.
Aftermath and Medical Response
Meena somehow managed to step out of the house and alert neighbours. The neighbours rushed all three to the Fatehpur Mandav Community Health Centre, where doctors declared Devendra and Neeraj dead on arrival. After receiving primary treatment, Meena was referred to the district hospital for further care.
Authorities are investigating the incident to determine the cause of the live wire exposure.
