Five Injured in Triple Collision on NH-19, Rescue Op Lasts 3 Hours

Five people were injured after three heavy vehicles collided at Danuwa Valley under Chauparan police station area around 12:30 am on Tuesday night. The impact of the collision was so severe that all the vehicles were badly damaged.

Rescue and Response

Police from Chauparan, officials from the Choradaha checkpost, NHAI ambulance teams and villagers quickly joined rescue efforts. One driver remained trapped inside his cabin, prompting a rescue operation that lasted nearly three hours. He was eventually pulled out safely.

All injured persons were taken to the Community Health Centre in Chauparan for primary treatment, while two critically injured victims were referred to Sheikh Bhikhari Medical College and Hospital in Hazaribag.

Traffic Disruption

The accident caused a massive traffic jam on National Highway-19, leaving vehicles stranded on both sides for hours. Police and NHAI teams later cleared the damaged vehicles, gradually restoring traffic.

Chauparan police station in-charge Pankaj Kumar said, “The exact cause of the accident is under investigation. Timely intervention helped normalise traffic.”

Safety Measures

District officials said that red marking work on the 11-km stretch at this accident prone zone are being prioritised, along with installation of streetlights and signboards. “Advanced surveillance cameras will also be set up soon to curb over-speeding and enhance monitoring,” said an official.
