Free Bus Travel for NEET Re-exam Candidates in Punjab

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has announced free bus travel for students appearing for the NEET UG re-examination on June 20, 21, and 22. The initiative aims to ensure that candidates can reach their exam centers without any financial burden or transportation issues.

Details of the Announcement

In a statement released on Friday, the Chief Minister's Office confirmed that the Punjab Roadways and PRTC buses will provide free travel to all NEET UG re-exam candidates. Students can avail this facility by showing their admit card to the bus conductor. The free travel will be applicable on all state-run buses across Punjab.

Background of NEET UG Re-exam

The National Testing Agency (NTA) had earlier announced a re-examination for NEET UG following allegations of irregularities in the original exam held on May 5. The re-exam will be conducted for candidates who were affected by the discrepancies. The decision to hold a re-exam was taken after a high-level committee reviewed the matter.

Chief Minister Mann emphasized that the state government is committed to supporting students in their academic pursuits. He stated that no student should face any hindrance in appearing for the exam due to transportation issues. The free bus travel facility is part of the government's efforts to ease the stress of students and their families.

Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains also welcomed the move, stating that it reflects the government's sensitivity towards students' needs. He urged all eligible candidates to take advantage of this facility and focus on their preparations.

The NEET UG re-exam is scheduled to be held across multiple centers in Punjab. Candidates are advised to check their exam center details on the official NTA website and plan their travel accordingly. The state transport department has been directed to ensure adequate bus services on the designated days.
