IAF's Operation Sindoor Formation to Take Center Stage at Republic Day Flypast

In a spectacular display of India's growing air power and military prowess, fighter jets of the Indian Air Force will fly in a special Sindoor formation during the Republic Day flypast this year. This powerful seven-aircraft formation represents a significant moment in India's defense history, marking the first Republic Day celebration following the launch of Operation Sindoor.

The Powerful Composition of Sindoor Formation

The Sindoor Formation will comprise an impressive array of India's most advanced fighter aircraft, including:

  • Two Rafale aircraft
  • Two Su-30 MKI aircraft
  • Two MiG-29 aircraft
  • One Jaguar aircraft

This carefully curated selection showcases the diverse capabilities of India's air defense systems, bringing together multiple generations of fighter technology in a single, coordinated display.

Historic Battle Array Format Debuts for Public Viewing

In what officials describe as a groundbreaking presentation, this year's Republic Day parade will feature military assets arranged in the exact sequence they would appear during actual combat operations. This marks the first time in history that the general public will witness military formations in their authentic battle array format.

Wing Commander Rajesh Deshwal, speaking to media representatives, explained the significance of this arrangement. "The formations will move down Kartavya Path in configurations mirroring real battle scenarios," he stated. "This begins with reconnaissance units, followed by logistics support, and personnel in full battle gear accompanying their respective platforms."

Operation Sindoor: The Background and Significance

Operation Sindoor was launched on May 7 last year as India's decisive response to the Pahalgam attack, involving coordinated strikes by the Indian Air Force and Army against terror infrastructure across the border. The Republic Day parade will feature several formations dedicated to commemorating the success of this operation.

In addition to the main Sindoor Formation, spectators will witness:

  1. Prahar Formation: Comprising three Advanced Light Helicopters (ALH) - two from the Indian Army and one from the Indian Air Force, with the lead aircraft proudly carrying the Operation Sindoor flag.
  2. Garud Formation: Following the Prahar Formation, both will maintain the battle array format throughout their display.

Comprehensive Air Display with 29 Aircraft

The overall flypast will feature an impressive total of 29 aircraft, demonstrating the breadth of India's aerial capabilities:

  • 16 fighter aircraft
  • 4 transport aircraft
  • 9 helicopters

This comprehensive display underscores India's commitment to showcasing its complete military readiness and technological advancement on the global stage.

Broader Parade Highlights and Themes

The Ministry of Defence has announced that 30 tableaux will participate in this year's Republic Day parade, with 17 representing various States and Union Territories, and 13 from different Ministries, Departments, and Services. The tableaux will revolve around two central themes: 'Swatantrata ka Mantra: Vande Mataram' celebrating 150 years of the national song, and 'Samriddhi ka Mantra: Aatmanirbhar Bharat' highlighting India's progress toward self-reliance across multiple sectors.

DRDO's Technological Showcase

Adding to the technological marvels on display, the Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) will present several groundbreaking innovations during the parade. These include:

  • Long Range Anti-Ship Hypersonic Missile (LR-AShM): A hypersonic glide missile capable of engaging both static and moving targets with indigenous avionics systems and high-accuracy sensor packages.
  • Naval Technologies for Combat Submarines: Featuring indigenously developed systems including Integrated Combat Suite (ICS), Wire Guided Heavy Weight Torpedo (WGHWT), and Air Independent Propulsion technology designed to enhance the combat capabilities of conventional submarines.

This year's Republic Day parade promises to be a landmark event, combining military might with technological innovation and cultural celebration, all while honoring the brave personnel involved in Operation Sindoor and showcasing India's growing defense capabilities to the world.
