Indian Army Conducts Major Ex-Servicemen Rally in Jhansi

In a significant initiative to support retired military personnel, the Indian Army organized a mega Ex-Servicemen Rally (ESM) at Hati Ground near the White Tiger War Memorial in Jhansi on Sunday. The event drew an impressive turnout of over 1,200 ex-servicemen, along with their widows and 'Veer Naris' from Jhansi and Jalaun districts, highlighting the army's commitment to its veteran community.

Wide Participation and Community Engagement

The daylong rally saw participation from a diverse group, including senior veteran officers, NCC cadets, schoolchildren, and civil administration officials. This broad involvement underscored the collective effort to connect with and assist ex-servicemen, fostering a sense of solidarity and support. General Officer Commanding Major General Mandeep Singh served as the chief guest, lending his presence to emphasize the importance of the event.

Focus on Database Updates and Grievance Redressal

A key objective of the rally was to update the database of veterans and address their grievances through coordinated efforts with various agencies. Officials highlighted that this involved collaboration with the Directorate of Indian Army Veterans, records offices, and Zila Sainik Boards. By streamlining these processes, the army aims to ensure that ex-servicemen receive timely and effective support for their needs.

Welfare Schemes and Assistance Initiatives

To enhance awareness and accessibility, dedicated helpdesks were established by several organizations:

  • Project NAMAN
  • Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme
  • Zila Sainik Board
  • Directorate General of Resettlement

These helpdesks provided information on various welfare schemes and entitlements, while also offering assistance to resolve day-to-day issues in coordination with the civil administration. This hands-on approach ensured that veterans could access practical help on the spot.

Distribution of Aid and Financial Support

As part of the rally's outreach, tangible support was provided to those in need. Three modified electric scooters and two electric wheelchairs were distributed to needy ex-servicemen, enhancing their mobility and quality of life. Additionally, financial assistance was extended to 10 'Veer Naris', recognizing their sacrifices and offering crucial economic support.

Culmination of Awareness Campaign

The event also marked the conclusion of a motorbike rally that was flagged off on March 23. This rally traveled through remote areas of Jhansi and Jalaun, aiming to raise awareness and reach out to veterans in hard-to-access regions. By combining this mobile campaign with the main rally, the Indian Army effectively broadened its impact, ensuring that more ex-servicemen could benefit from the initiatives.

Overall, the Ex-Servicemen Rally in Jhansi served as a vital platform for strengthening ties with the veteran community, addressing their concerns, and providing essential welfare services. It reflects the ongoing efforts of the Indian Army to honor and support those who have served the nation.
