In another message, the Prime Minister praised Gandhi's doctrine of non-violence, quoting a Sanskrit verse: "Ahimsa param dharmast-thahimsa parantpah, ahimsa paramam satyam yato dharmah pravartate" (Nonviolence is the ultimate duty, nonviolence is the ultimate austerity.
