Minister for textiles, sugarcane development and sugar directorate, and Haveri district in-charge, Shivananda Patil, delivered an eloquent tribute to the Indian Constitution during the Republic Day ceremony at Hosamani Siddappa District Stadium in Haveri. After unfurling the national flag, Patil described the Constitution as one of the world's most prestigious documents, embodying the timeless ideals of liberty, equality, and social, economic, and political justice.
"Our Constitution serves as a guiding light not just for India but for other nations seeking to establish just societies," Patil remarked. He emphasized that while the Constitution has undergone necessary amendments over time, its core values remain intact and continue to reflect the authentic spirit and ethos of India.
Healthcare Advancements in Haveri District
Transitioning from constitutional principles to practical governance, Minister Patil highlighted significant healthcare developments in Haveri district. He announced that a state-of-the-art medical sciences institute, constructed at a substantial cost of Rs 500 crore, has been inaugurated and has already emerged as a model medical college within Karnataka.
"The chief minister and deputy chief minister have personally assured approval for a super multispecialty hospital in our district," Patil revealed. He further explained that medical facilities across Haveri are being systematically strengthened to enhance healthcare services for all residents, ensuring better access to quality treatment.
The event witnessed participation from numerous dignitaries including MLA and deputy speaker Rudrappa Lamani, Huda chairman SFN Gajigoudar, deputy commissioner Vijay Mahantesh Danammanavar, ZP CEO Ruchi Bindal, superintendent of police Yashoda Vantagodi, former ZP president Kotraeshappa Baseganni, and DCC president Sanjeevkumar Neeralagi.
SS Mallikarjun Outlines Development Priorities for Davanagere
Meanwhile, in Davanagere district, minister for mines and geology, horticulture, and district in-charge SS Mallikarjun emphasized the need for comprehensive development during his Republic Day address. Speaking to media representatives at JJMM Medical College following celebrations at the district stadium, Mallikarjun revealed that several crucial proposals have been submitted for consideration in the upcoming state budget.
"We have prioritized irrigation, education, and healthcare as our key focus areas for Davanagere's development," Mallikarjun stated. He confirmed that discussions would be held with the chief minister to secure necessary budgetary allocations addressing the district's most pressing demands.
Infrastructure and Water Management Projects
Providing specific details about ongoing initiatives, Mallikarjun announced that a detailed project report is currently being prepared for the Byranapada project in Harihar taluk. "We will seek formal approval for this project at the next cabinet meeting," he assured.
In a significant move toward water conservation and management, the minister disclosed that under a comprehensive plan to rejuvenate lakes across Davanagere district, tenders have been invited to replace damaged pipelines with new cast iron pipes. This infrastructure upgrade is expected to soon facilitate reliable water supply to several lakes in Davanagere taluk, addressing both agricultural and environmental needs.
