Chandigarh: Union minister and senior BJP leader Ravneet Singh Bittu launched a scathing attack on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government and its convenor Arvind Kejriwal, alleging that the people of Punjab have now witnessed a "second Ahmad Shah Abdali" in Kejriwal, who has come to the state solely to loot it. Bittu made these remarks while addressing the media in Chandigarh, accusing the AAP leadership of systematic corruption and misgovernance.
Bittu's Allegations Against Kejriwal and Mann
Bittu further stated that Kejriwal and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann frequently invoke the names of invaders and Mughal rulers because their own style of functioning reflects a similar mindset. He alleged that numerous AAP ministers, MLAs, and officials have been repeatedly caught in corruption cases, and that the Punjab government has turned the state into an "ATM" for corruption and exploitation.
Promises vs Reality
When the AAP formed the government in Punjab, it projected itself as a symbol of honesty and clean governance. However, Bittu pointed out that today several of its ministers and leaders are facing serious corruption allegations. He remarked that the long list of ministers removed by the AAP government itself reflects the deep-rooted corruption within the administration.
Internal Strife in AAP
Bittu also alleged that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has been using cases and pressure tactics against leaders and ministers of his own party to politically weaken and control them. This, he said, is further evidence of the dysfunctional and authoritarian nature of the AAP government.
The BJP leader's comments come amid growing political tensions in Punjab, with the opposition parties consistently targeting the AAP government over corruption charges and administrative failures.
