Thiruvananthapuram: The house listing phase of Census 2027, India’s first fully digital census, will commence in Kerala on July 1, announced K Biju, secretary of the general administration department and state nodal officer for the census. The house listing and housing census (HLO) will be conducted across Kerala from July 1 to July 30. Subsequently, the population enumeration will take place in February 2027.
Key Details of the Census
A total of 33 questions have been notified for the census. The state government issued a notification on May 7, urging the public to cooperate by providing accurate and clear information. As part of the exercise, residents can directly submit family details through the self-enumeration portal—census self-enumeration portal—during a 15-day self-enumeration period starting Tuesday. Information submitted online will be verified and confirmed by enumerators during field visits.
Enumerators and Technology
Teachers and other government employees have been appointed as enumerators for data collection, supported by approximately 10,189 supervisors. Data will be collected by visiting house-listing blocks identified through a web-mapping application. Enumerators will use the HLO mobile application for data collection. The entire census operation will be coordinated via the census management and monitoring system web portal.
