Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge launched a sharp attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday, accusing them of a lack of foresight and leadership. Speaking at a press conference, Kharge highlighted the rising oil prices and the ongoing Adani controversy as evidence of the government's failures.
Oil Prices Under Scrutiny
Kharge pointed out that petrol and diesel prices have surged to record levels despite the government's claims of controlling inflation. He questioned the BJP's economic policies, stating that common citizens are bearing the brunt of the price hike. 'The government talks about development, but the common man is struggling to afford basic necessities,' Kharge said.
Adani Matter Raises Questions
The Congress chief also took aim at the government over its handling of the Adani Group issue. He alleged that the BJP has been protecting industrialist Gautam Adani, whose conglomerate has faced allegations of stock manipulation and accounting fraud. 'The government's silence on the Adani matter raises serious questions about its integrity,' Kharge added.
Lack of Leadership
Kharge accused the BJP of lacking vision and leadership, particularly in addressing economic challenges. He urged the government to focus on the welfare of the people rather than protecting corporate interests. 'The country needs strong leadership that prioritizes the poor and the middle class,' he emphasized.
The Congress party has planned a series of protests across the country to highlight these issues. Kharge called on opposition parties to unite against the government's policies.
