Kota Chief Secretary Conducts Comprehensive Review of Tiger Reserve and Public Infrastructure
Chief Secretary V Srinivas of the state undertook a significant visit to the Mukundra Hills Tiger Reserve in Kota district on Sunday, followed by a detailed review meeting at the collectorate auditorium. The meeting focused on critical infrastructure and public service initiatives, prominently including the Kota-Bundi greenfield airport project, which aims to enhance regional connectivity and economic development.
Detailed Inspection of Conservation Efforts at Mukundra Hills
Srinivas commenced his day with an extensive tour of the tiger reserve, accompanied by District Collector Piyush Samaria. The journey began at Kishorpura Jetty, where they embarked on a boat trip along the scenic Chambal River, proceeding up to Garadia Mahadev. This immersive experience allowed Srinivas to closely observe the reserve's natural landscapes and diverse wildlife, gaining firsthand insights into the ecological richness of the area.
Key forest officials, including CCF Sonal Jorihar, Field Director Sugnaram Jat, DCF Aproov Krishan Shrivastav, and Muthu S, were present to provide comprehensive briefings. These measures encompass inter-state tiger translocation programs, which aim to boost genetic diversity and population stability, along with prey base augmentation to ensure adequate food sources for predators.

During the review, officials highlighted habitat improvement initiatives and grassland development projects designed to create a more sustainable environment for wildlife. A notable innovation discussed was the use of solar energy to lift water from the Chambal River, ensuring reliable water availability for animals during the harsh summer months, thereby mitigating drought-related challenges.
Srinivas also evaluated the field patrolling systems in place to combat poaching and monitor wildlife activity. This included an assessment of the M-STrIPES app, a technological tool that enhances real-time tracking and data collection for conservation efforts.
