KTR demands rollback of steep LPG price hike

Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao has demanded that the Centre immediately rollback the steep LPG price hike, calling it an unprecedented burden on the poor and working classes.

May Day address

Speaking at May Day celebrations at Telangana Bhavan on Friday, KTR said the nearly 1,000 increase on commercial cylinder price was unheard of and would badly hit households, workers, small businesses, hotels and the self-employed.

He said the rise in commercial LPG price to 3,315 in Hyderabad could force hotels and restaurants to shut shop, risking lakhs of jobs. He also warned that higher LPG cost would push up food prices and hurt low-income groups using smaller cylinders.

Financial stress on workers

KTR accused the BJP-led Centre of adding financial stress instead of supporting workers, and said rising fuel, gas, petrol, and diesel prices were driving inflation and making life harder for ordinary people.

He urged the central government to withdraw the LPG hike immediately and also rollback increased petrol and diesel prices.
