Lokpal Dismisses Graft Complaint Against BJP MP Nishikant Dubey

BJP MP Nishikant Dubey launched a sharp attack on the Congress party on Wednesday. This came right after the Lokpal dismissed a corruption complaint filed against him. Dubey asserted that exposing the opposition party's misdeeds remains his duty.

Lokpal Terms Allegations Frivolous and Vexatious

The Lokpal, in its order, described the allegations against Dubey as frivolous and vexatious. The anti-corruption ombudsman stated that the complainant, former IPS officer Amitabh Thakur, failed to make a convincing case. The complaint alleged the acquisition of disproportionate assets by the BJP leader.

In a detailed 134-page order issued on Tuesday, the Lokpal bench, led by Chairperson Justice A M Khanwilkar, noted the complainant's approach. The order pointed out that Thakur relied on election affidavits filed by Dubey for the years 2009, 2014, 2019, and 2024. As the matter progressed, Thakur kept improvising the allegations in his complaint.

Dubey's Strong Response on Social Media

Nishikant Dubey took to social media platform X to share his reaction. He posted a message in Hindi, expressing his resolve. "I will not be silenced," Dubey wrote. "I am an ordinary BJP worker. I am fortunate that the BJP made me a member of Parliament during the tenure of Prime Minister Modiji. It is my duty to expose the misdeeds of the Congress party to the people."

He concluded his post with the phrase "Satyamev Jayate" (truth alone triumphs). Dubey stated that the Lokpal delivered a verdict on what he called false allegations against him and his family.

"The honourable Lokpal has ordered me to file a case of harassment against these individuals in the judiciary or the Lok Sabha for damaging my family's reputation based on these false accusations," he added.

Details of the Complaint and Dismissal

The complaint was filed in May last year by Lucknow-based Amitabh Thakur. Thakur serves as the national president of the Azad Adhikar Sena party. He alleged that Dubey had acquired assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.

Thakur's complaint specifically claimed that while Dubey's movable and immovable properties remained relatively constant over the years, those of his wife, Anamika Gautam, increased significantly. The Lokpal order, however, termed this line of argument as indulging in whataboutery.

In his official response to the complaint, Nishikant Dubey had denied all the allegations. He labeled the complaint as entirely frivolous. The Lokpal's dismissal now provides a formal clearance to the BJP MP from these graft charges.
