Lucknow Commemorates Ninth Death Anniversary of Former Union Minister Akhilesh Das Gupta

The city of Lucknow observed the ninth death anniversary of former Union minister Akhilesh Das Gupta with a series of heartfelt tribute programs and extensive social service activities. Gupta, who also served as the former mayor of Lucknow and was the founder of the BBD Group, was remembered for his significant contributions to education, society, and sports.

Tribute Ceremony at Akhil Jyot Programme

At the Akhil Jyot programme held at the university, a solemn homage was paid to Gupta by key dignitaries. The event was attended by BBD Educational Group chairperson Alka Das Gupta, BBD Group president Viraj Sagar Das, vice presidents Sonakshi Das and Devanshi Das, along with senior university officials, faculty members, guests, and students. This gathering highlighted the enduring impact of Gupta's legacy on the community.

Welfare Initiatives and Social Service Drives

As part of the observance, several welfare initiatives were organized to honor Gupta's commitment to social causes. NCC cadets conducted a clothes donation drive through BBD Generosity Junction, while NSS volunteers held a blood donation camp that saw an impressive participation of 100 donors. Additionally, awareness camps were set up in Uttar Dhauna village, focusing on critical topics such as legal literacy, cyber fraud prevention, and women empowerment.

Green Anthem Donation Drive and Community Support

Under the Green Anthem donation drive, essential items including food grains, grocery supplies, and clothing were distributed among underprivileged families, providing much-needed relief and support. This initiative underscored the community's dedication to continuing Gupta's philanthropic work.

International Conference on AI in Digital Growth

An international conference on AI in Digital Growth was held at the campus auditorium, featuring a memorial lecture by Dr. Nishchal Kumar Verma of IIT Kanpur. Dr. Verma highlighted Gupta's contributions to education, society, and sports. The conference also included a panel discussion with experts such as Jagdish Chand Bansal of South Asian University, who spoke on advanced topics like drone swarm technology and AI applications.

Widespread Tribute Events Across Locations

A Shraddha Bhoj at the BBD campus attracted thousands of participants, fostering a sense of community and remembrance. Similar tribute events and community meals were organized at various locations, including Times Square, the corporate office, and central store in BBD Green City. Further social service activities included medical camps, eye check-up drives, outreach to old age homes and orphanages, school strengthening initiatives, and a large bhandara at the UP Badminton Academy.
