Mafia Don Vijay Mishra Convicted in 46-Year-Old Murder Case

A special MP-MLA court in Prayagraj on Tuesday convicted mafia don and four-time former MLA Vijay Mishra in a 46-year-old murder case. The court will announce the quantum of sentence against Mishra, a former MLA from the Gyanpur assembly seat in Bhadohi, on Wednesday.

Details of the Case

Special judge Yogesh Kumar convicted Mishra, along with Jeet Narayan, Santram, and Balram, for the murder of 35-year-old Prakash Narayan Pandey. The incident occurred on February 11, 1980, within the district court premises. Pandey, a university student, had come to the court to seek bail in a case filed against him. He had an old feud with Santram and Balram.

Legal Proceedings

The deceased’s elder brother, Shyam Narayan, filed an FIR at the Colonelganj police station. However, the trial could not be concluded as the original records and case diary went missing. The file was later reconstructed, after which the trial concluded.
