Mumbai: The Mahayuti alliance on Wednesday released its official list of 17 candidates for the upcoming MLC elections, comprising 16 biennial and one bypoll, scheduled for June 18. Addressing a joint press conference, BJP state president Ravindra Chavan stated that a meeting of alliance partners was held on Tuesday evening, where it was decided to announce the official candidate list to eliminate any ambiguity.
Appeal to Rebel Candidates
Chavan emphasized that local leaders would be provided with the list to ensure Mahayuti's victory on all 17 seats. He acknowledged that many rebel candidates have served the party for several years and urged them to withdraw their nominations after consulting senior leaders. He assured that the party would positively consider them for upcoming positions in various corporations and important committees.
Confidence in Withdrawal Process
NCP leader Sunil Tatkare expressed confidence that with Thursday being the last day for withdrawal of nominations, only the official Mahayuti candidates would remain in the fray. Shiv Sena's Rahul Shewale added that party chief Eknath Shinde had spoken with workers who had filed nominations, and his word would be respected.
This move aims to consolidate the alliance's strength and avoid internal conflicts, ensuring a unified front in the elections. The Mahayuti leadership remains optimistic about securing all seats through strategic coordination and by addressing the concerns of rebel candidates.
