Nagpur: A tragic incident occurred in Katangdhara village under Hingna police station limits, where a 27-year-old man allegedly murdered his younger brother by brutally assaulting him with a wooden log over a minor dispute on Friday midnight.
Details of the Incident
The deceased has been identified as Shubham Pandharam (23), while the accused is his elder brother Harishchandra (27). According to police, Harishchandra was unemployed and an alcoholic, while Shubham and their father were the primary earning members of the family.
Sequence of Events
On Friday night, Harishchandra returned home in a drunken state. Shubham scolded him for his drinking habit and urged him to find a job, which led to a heated argument between the brothers. The family later went to sleep in the courtyard. Nursing a grudge, Harishchandra allegedly picked up a wooden log and struck Shubham on the head while he was asleep at around 12:30 am. Shubham died instantly from the severe injury.
Aftermath and Arrest
Instead of fleeing the scene, the accused sat beside the body, staring at it. Their mother woke up around 1 am and discovered the gruesome scene. Hingna police, led by senior inspector Jitendra Bobde, rushed to the spot, conducted a panchnama, and sent the body for postmortem. The accused has been arrested and is in custody.
