Man Stabbed to Death in Chandigarh Market, Old Rivalry Suspected

A 20-year-old man was stabbed to death at Daria market in Chandigarh on Tuesday night, triggering panic in the area. The victim has been identified as Suraj, a resident of Daria, who worked at a private company in the city.

Attack Details

According to the police, three to four armed assailants arrived at the market in the evening and allegedly attacked Suraj. Eyewitnesses reported that the accused stabbed him multiple times with sharp-edged weapons before fleeing the scene. Suraj collapsed on the road in a pool of blood.

Emergency Response

Passersby alerted the police control room, following which a PCR team reached the spot and rushed the injured man to Government Medical College and Hospital, Sector 32. However, doctors declared him brought dead.

Investigation Underway

Preliminary investigations suggest that an old rivalry may have been the motive behind the murder. Police are scanning CCTV footage from the area to identify the attackers. Senior police officers and a forensic team examined the crime scene and collected evidence. Suraj’s parents, both employed with the UT forest department, have been informed.

Legal Proceedings

A case of murder has been registered against unknown persons at the Industrial Area Phase-I police station. No arrests have been made so far, and investigations are ongoing.
