Manipur Draft Electoral Roll Lists 19.34 Lakh Voters

Manipur Chief Electoral Officer Arun Kumar Sinha announced that the state’s draft electoral roll, published on Sunday after the enumeration phase of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), contains 19.34 lakh voters. This figure represents 92.42% of the 20,93,076 total electors who submitted enumeration forms by June 28.

Voter Demographics and Enumeration Details

According to Sinha, the draft roll includes 9,40,466 males, 9,93,660 females, and 294 third-gender electors, totaling 19,34,399 voters. The successful enumeration phase was attributed to the coordinated efforts of District Election Officers across all 16 districts, 60 Electoral Registration Officers, 84 Assistant Electoral Registration Officers, 317 Booth Level Officer Supervisors, and 2,956 BLOs deployed at polling booths, supported by volunteers.

Discrepancies Found During Enumeration

Sinha reported that BLOs identified 7,394 electors enrolled at multiple locations and 43,000 deceased electors. Additionally, 1,08,283 voters were found to have shifted, were absent, or did not return their filled enumeration forms by the deadline. The CEO emphasized that genuine electors can still be added to the roll during the claims and objections period from July 5 to August 4.

Awareness and Inclusion Efforts

Sinha stated, “To ensure universal awareness and participation, during the enumeration period, CEOs, DEOs and EROs conducted extensive awareness campaigns and held multiple meetings with political parties to explain the process and shared updates on the progress of the enumeration phase of SIR at regular intervals.” He also noted that enumeration forms were provided to Internally Displaced Persons through nodal officers in their current districts, and the filled forms were collected and handed over to Electoral Registration Officers for digitization by the concerned BLO.

Final Roll Publication Date

The final electoral roll is scheduled to be published on September 6 this year.
