Missing Organs Found in Seafarer's Repatriated Body
A post-mortem examination conducted in Uttar Pradesh has revealed that several major internal organs were missing from the body of a seafarer who died in Venezuela. The family of the deceased, identified as Rakesh Chauhan, has demanded a high-level probe into the incident.
Body Returned Without Autopsy Report
Chauhan, a resident of Uttar Pradesh, was working on a merchant vessel when he reportedly died in Venezuela. His mortal remains were sent back to his hometown without any autopsy report or details from Venezuelan authorities. The family requested a re-autopsy, which then uncovered the missing organs.
Family Seeks Answers
According to the family, the official post-mortem report conducted in Uttar Pradesh showed that major internal organs such as the heart, lungs, and liver were absent. The family has expressed shock and suspicion, calling for a high-level investigation to determine the circumstances of Chauhan's death and the cause of the missing organs.
"We are devastated and demand a thorough inquiry. How can organs go missing without explanation?" said a family member, as quoted by local sources.
Social Media Attention
The case has gained traction on social media, with the Federation of Seafarers' Unions of India (FSUI) sharing details and demanding justice. In a post on X, FSUI highlighted the lack of cooperation from Venezuelan authorities and urged the Indian government to intervene.
