PM Modi Condemns Congress for 'Dangerous' Politicization of Gulf Crisis

Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a sharp rebuke to the opposition Congress party on Sunday, accusing it of making "dangerous" remarks about the ongoing West Asia conflict for political gains. Speaking at a BJP-led NDA election rally in Palakkad, Kerala, Modi asserted that such statements are putting the lives of nearly one crore Indians living in Gulf countries at significant risk.

Government Prioritizes Safety of Indians in Conflict Zones

Modi emphasized that his government is actively working to ensure the safety of Indian citizens in Gulf nations affected by the conflict, particularly highlighting the many people from Kerala who work in these regions. "For us, their safety remains a top priority," he stated, adding that efforts are underway to minimize the crisis's impact on India. The Prime Minister called on political opponents to desist from politicizing the situation, stressing that there is no place for self-serving politics in matters concerning the interests of 140 crore citizens.

Modi Slams Kerala's Political Landscape

In his address, Modi also targeted Kerala's governing LDF and opposition UDF fronts, alleging that the state has been trapped for decades between these groups, which he accused of indulging in corrupt and communal politics. "Between LDF and UDF, Congress and Communists, one is corrupt and the other is highly corrupt, communal and highly communal," he claimed. Modi paid tribute to BJP workers who lost their lives due to political violence in the state, condemning the vote-bank politics of the rival fronts.

Opposition Accused of Spreading Harmful Rumors

Further escalating his criticism, Modi, in his monthly 'Mann Ki Baat' address, slammed the opposition for spreading rumors about potential lockdowns and fuel price hikes post-assembly polls. He urged citizens to remain vigilant and trust only government-provided information, warning that such misinformation causes major harm to the country. The Centre has denied these claims, with Modi expressing confidence that India will overcome the current crisis through collective strength, just as it has in the past.

The Prime Minister's remarks underscore the heightened political tensions as the NDA launches its campaign in Kerala, with the Gulf conflict serving as a focal point in the debate over national security and responsible governance.
