Ahmedabad Kite Festival Sees Swift Change as Leaders Ride Decorated Jeep

Organizers and security personnel faced a sudden challenge at the International Kite Festival in Ahmedabad on Monday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz were originally scheduled to fly kites to inaugurate the event at the Sabarmati Riverfront. However, a last-minute change in plans required quick adaptation.

Instead of using a small stage, event staff cleared a round space at the venue. They arranged for a white open jeep to be brought to the location just minutes before the dignitaries arrived. Team members dusted the vehicle clean while organizers decorated it with fresh marigolds right on the spot.

Officials Manage Unexpected Shift Smoothly

"It was a last-minute change but we were able to arrange it nicely," an official stated confidently. The decorated jeep provided an alternative way for the two leaders to participate in the festival inauguration. Photographs from the event show both leaders riding in the festive vehicle against the backdrop of the riverfront.

Surat Police Name Abandoned Infant 'Hasti' and Ensure Her Care

In a separate development from Gujarat, Surat police have taken special interest in an abandoned baby girl found in the Dindoli area. Police Inspector RI Chudasama discovered the infant crying near a pond six days ago and immediately took her to SMIMER hospital for medical attention.

"We sent the girl child to the Child Welfare Centre at Katargam," Chudasama explained. "We will visit the centre regularly and ensure that she gets regular vaccination and milk." The inspector continues to check on the baby's wellbeing at the hospital where she remains under observation.

Naming Ceremony Conducted by Police Commissioner

Police Commissioner Anupam Singh Gahlaut, along with his wife and staff, performed traditional naming rituals for the child. They chose the name "Hasti" for the baby who has become something of a star attraction for the city police department.

Meanwhile, Chudasama and his team are reviewing CCTV footage from the area. They aim to identify the parents who abandoned the infant. Authorities have already filed charges against the unknown parents for leaving the baby.

The police department's involvement extends beyond investigation to active care for the child's future wellbeing. Their commitment reflects a broader sense of responsibility toward vulnerable citizens in the community.
