Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched Central development projects worth over Rs 830 crore in West Bengal on Sunday. He also flagged off three new Amrit Bharat trains from Singur in Hooghly district. These trains will connect Kolkata with various parts of the country.
Modi Attacks TMC Government in Singur Rally
Addressing a large public rally in Singur, PM Modi launched a sharp attack on the ruling Trinamool Congress government. He accused the Mamata Banerjee-led administration of failing to bring industries to Bengal. Modi linked this industrial decline directly to the state's law and order situation.
"Industry will only come to Bengal when law and order is restored," the Prime Minister declared. "A 'syndicate tax' is levied here on everything. The BJP will end this, that is Modi's guarantee."
Call for 'Double-Engine Government'
With Assembly elections in West Bengal just months away, Modi made a strong pitch for what he called a "double-engine government." This refers to having the same party in power at both the state and Central levels.
The Prime Minister cited Tripura as an example. "Earlier in Tripura, only four out of 100 homes had tap water. Today, 85 out of 100 homes receive tap water," he said. "In Bengal, half the population still lacks this facility. The BJP will change this."
Accusations Against TMC Government
Modi accused the TMC government of deliberately blocking Central schemes from reaching Bengal's people. He mentioned several specific programs that he claimed were being withheld from the state.
- Digital platform for fishermen stopped in Bengal
- PM-Shree schools not being opened in the state
- Central health schemes not implemented
"The TMC government does not allow central schemes to reach you," Modi told the crowd. "If they have a problem with Modi or the BJP, that is understandable. But they are taking revenge on the people of Bengal."
Security and Infiltration Concerns
The Prime Minister raised serious concerns about national security along Bengal's borders. He accused the TMC government of protecting infiltrators for vote bank politics.
"The TMC is playing with national security," Modi claimed. "They are trying to protect infiltrators because they consider them their vote bank. Illegal immigrants along Bengal's borders have been allowed to flourish under the state government's watch."
He promised that a BJP government would completely stop infiltration and identify those who entered with forged documents.
Cultural Achievements and Local Development
Modi highlighted several cultural achievements during his speech. He noted that UNESCO granted Cultural Heritage status to Kolkata's Durga Puja during his government's tenure.
The Prime Minister also connected Hooghly district to the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram. "It was right here that Rishi Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay gave the anthem its final form," he said.
For local economic development, Modi promised to promote Bengal's unique products. "BJP will promote unique local products like Dhaniakhali sarees, jute, and handloom," he announced. "We will modernize cold storage facilities for farmers and fishermen."
Appeal to Voters
The Prime Minister made a direct appeal to Bengal's voters to remove the TMC government. He accused the ruling party of being "enemies of women, youth and farmers."
Modi led the crowd in chanting "Paltano dorkar, chai BJP sorkar" (Need to change, we want BJP government). He urged people to vote for change in the upcoming elections.
"The people of Bengal will punish the cruel TMC government," Modi declared confidently.
