PM Modi Condemns Congress for Alleged Panic-Mongering Amid West Asia Tensions
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, speaking at a public rally in Silchar, Assam, on Saturday, accused the Congress party of deliberately creating panic within India regarding the ongoing West Asia conflict. He asserted that the BJP-led government is making every effort to minimize the impact of the war-like situation on Indian citizens, but the opposition is undermining these efforts through falsehoods.
Government Efforts vs. Political Opportunism
"The BJP government is trying to ensure that the impact of the war-like situation remains minimal on the people of the country. However, the Congress is taking the help of falsehood and making the lives of common people difficult," Modi stated. He emphasized that the Congress, which should act as a responsible political party, has once again failed to prioritize national interests during this critical time.
Modi further alleged, "Congress is trying its best to create panic in the country, to put the country in trouble. And after that, Congress abuses Modi profusely." He urged the public to remain cautious of the Congress, claiming the party lacks vision and is acting against India's interests.
Scathing Critique of AI Summit Protest
In a sharp escalation of his criticism, Modi targeted the Congress over a recent shirtless protest by leaders of its youth wing during the India AI Impact Summit in New Delhi. He described the incident as a reflection of the party's ideological decline and an attempt to tarnish India's global image.
"We just witnessed the world's largest AI conference in India. But what did Congress and its ecosystem do? They turned a global event meant to showcase India's progress into a platform for their dirty and naked politics," Modi remarked. He added sarcastically, "You are already naked, then why did you feel the need to take off your clothes?"
Modi concluded, "What the Congress leaders did there shows how ideologically bankrupt and impoverished the oldest party of the country has become. Congress is busy defaming its own country." He alleged that some political parties are unable to accept India's rising global profile and resort to such tactics out of frustration.
Context of the West Asia Conflict
The Prime Minister's comments come amid heightened tensions in West Asia, involving Israel, Iran, and the United States. Recent developments include US strikes on Iran's Kharg Island, a critical hub for oil exports, with Iran threatening retaliation. Modi's government is focused on shielding India from potential economic and security repercussions, such as disruptions to oil supplies and regional stability.
This rally in Silchar is part of Modi's campaign in poll-bound Assam, where he is highlighting his administration's achievements and contrasting them with what he portrays as the Congress's divisive politics. The speech underscores the BJP's strategy to frame the Congress as irresponsible and unpatriotic, especially in times of international crisis.
