Mohali Murder Case Solved with Arrest of Two Brothers

Chandigarh: The Mohali police have claimed to have solved a murder case with the arrest of two brothers. The third accused is currently on the run. The police also claimed to have seized the knife used in the murder from the accused.

Details of the Incident

A 20-year-old youth, identified as Abhi, was stabbed to death in Kharar on the night of May 17. According to the police, the accused, Ram Rattan, his brother Chhotu, and the main accused Anil, a resident of Balongi, Mohali, killed him over a monetary issue.

Police Statement

Ishan Singhal, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Kharar-1, stated that a case of murder was registered based on a complaint filed by Ravi, a resident of Azad Nagar, Balongi, Mohali. The complainant said he witnessed the accused stabbing his brother in the back. After critically injuring the victim, the accused fled the scene.

The complainant rushed Abhi to the hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries on the way. The police revealed that the dispute revolved around Rs 800, which Abhi was allegedly supposed to collect from Anil, who is currently at large.

Investigation and Arrests

The police launched a manhunt and successfully apprehended Ram Rattan and Chhotu. Efforts are underway to capture the absconding accused, Anil. The knife used in the crime has been recovered as evidence.

The arrest has brought some relief to the victim's family, who had been demanding justice. The police are continuing their investigation to ensure all those involved are brought to book.
