Madhya Pradesh Assembly Holds Solemn Tribute Session for Departed Leaders and Martyrs
The Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly convened on Tuesday for a poignant session dedicated to paying homage to several notable figures who passed away recently. The House collectively honored former Maharashtra deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar, former Union ministers Suresh Kalmadi and Kanhu Charan Lenka, as well as martyred soldiers from the Bhind district.
CM Mohan Yadav Leads Tributes to Ajit Pawar and Plane Crash Victims
Addressing the assembly, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav expressed deep personal sorrow over the demise of Ajit Pawar. "Ajit Pawar was also personally known to me. He was a very different kind of person," Yadav stated. "He was with our party and served as deputy chief minister in the government. His unique commitment to development, farmers, and various other causes was remarkable."
The CM elaborated that Pawar worked tirelessly with great humility for the service of all people and classes. "On January 28, he was killed in a tragic accident while landing at Baramati Airport. Ajit Pawar ji's demise is very sad," Yadav added. He noted that along with Pawar, the security guard, pilot, co-pilot, and crew members also perished, including Shambhavi Pathak, a resident of Gwalior district.
Yadav, along with the entire House, offered condolences to Ajit Pawar and all colleagues who were victims of this devastating incident.
Homage to Former Union Ministers and Martyred Jawans
The assembly also remembered former Union minister Suresh Kalmadi, who held many significant responsibilities within the Congress party. "We also saw him at the Olympic Association, and his attitude towards athletes was particularly distinctive," CM Yadav remarked, highlighting Kalmadi's contributions to sports.
In addition, tributes were paid to:
- Kanhu Charan Lenka, another former Union minister.
- Sunil Kumar of Bhind, a martyred jawan who was part of the security force posted on the border with Tibet and died on December 31.
- Havildar Shaiolendra Singh Bhadoria, also from Bhind, who was killed in action in Doda, Jammu, on January 22.
Silence Observed for Deceased Souls
Leader of Opposition Umang Singhar paid homage to the victims of the Bhagirathpura water contamination incident. Following the tributes, the House observed a two-minute silence as a mark of respect for all the deceased souls. This solemn gesture underscored the assembly's collective mourning and reverence for those who lost their lives in various tragic events.
The session highlighted the state's commitment to honoring public servants and martyrs, reflecting on their contributions and sacrifices for the nation and its people.
