In a tragic incident in Mumbai, a 62-year-old woman undergoing treatment for anxiety died after allegedly falling from the seventh floor of a residential building in Dadar West. The incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, near the building of MNS chief Raj Thackeray, sending shockwaves through the local community.

Details of the Incident

The deceased has been identified as Kamala Keshav Agnihotri. According to police reports, the incident came to light around 12:30 am when Inspector Pramod Pawar, the night shift supervisor, received a call from the building. He promptly informed Station House Officer Sub-Inspector Rahul Patil, who immediately rushed to the spot along with the Shivaji Park Mobile One patrol vehicle.

Upon arrival, the police team found the senior woman lying unconscious on the footpath in front of the building. She was quickly shifted to Sion Hospital for medical attention. Unfortunately, doctors declared her dead on arrival at 1:15 am, confirming the severity of the fall.

Identification and Family Statement

The building watchman, Varun Singh, identified the woman as Kamala Agnihotri and informed her husband, Keshav Agnihotri. In his statement to the police, Keshav revealed that his wife had been suffering from anxiety and they had an appointment scheduled with a doctor in Mahim later that day for her treatment. He expressed no suspicion or complaint against anyone in connection with the incident, indicating it may have been a tragic accident.

Police Investigation Findings

During an inspection of the couple's flat, police observed that the iron wire mesh of the bedroom balcony was detached on one side. This detail has raised questions about the circumstances leading to the fall, though no foul play is suspected at this stage. An inquest panchnama was conducted in the presence of two witnesses to document the scene thoroughly.

A post-mortem examination has been conducted at Sion Hospital to determine the exact cause of death. Police have registered an accidental death case and stated that further inquiry is ongoing to piece together the events that led to this unfortunate incident.

The local authorities are urging residents to ensure safety measures in their homes, especially for those dealing with health issues like anxiety, to prevent such tragedies in the future.
