A candidate from the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance contesting from the Konkan region has announced his withdrawal from the upcoming Maharashtra legislative council elections, alleging widespread horse trading. Elections to 16 legislative council seats from local self-government bodies, along with a bypoll from the Nagpur self-government body, are scheduled for June 18. Allegations of Horse Trading
The withdrawing candidate claimed that attempts were made to lure MVA members with monetary and other inducements to cross-vote in favor of rival candidates.
