Military Honors and Emotional Homecoming
On Friday, Duragkar's mortal remains were brought to New Delhi, where they were accorded full military honors. The body was then flown to the Sonegaon Air Force Station in Nagpur and transported to his residence at New Subhedar Layout, where it was handed over to his grieving family. The scene at his home was intensely emotional as his parents, Ravindra and Sandhya, received the body, wrapped in the tricolour along with his uniform. His sister, Sandhya Samarth, who flew in from the USA, was inconsolable, adding to the somber atmosphere.
Final Rites with Full State Honors
The final rites were performed with full state honors at the Manewada cremation ground, attended by collector Vipin Itankar, senior Indian Air Force officers, armed forces personnel, and prominent citizens from various walks of life. As the tricolour-draped coffin arrived at the cremation ground, mourners lined up to pay homage, their voices rising in emotional chants that celebrated the courage and sacrifice of Nagpur's beloved son.
Community Mourning and National Tribute
Following the rituals, IAF officers gently folded the national flag that had covered the martyr's body and presented it to his family, a moment that brought tears streaming down their faces.
