Naidu Envisions Amaravati as Andhra Pradesh's Economic Powerhouse and India's Quantum Valley
Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has emphatically declared that the capital city of Amaravati is rapidly emerging as a transformative greenfield urban center, poised to serve as the primary growth engine for Andhra Pradesh's future economic trajectory. Speaking at a gathering in Guntur on Friday, Naidu underscored that the Economic Survey 2025-26, recently tabled in Parliament, explicitly highlights Amaravati's pivotal role not only in propelling the state's development but also in contributing significantly to India's overall growth narrative.
Amaravati: A Strategic Response to Regional Competition
Naidu addressed previous criticisms regarding the extensive land allocation for the capital, recalling arguments that a mere 100 acres would suffice for a secretariat. He countered this perspective by emphasizing the necessity for world-class development to secure national and global recognition and to ensure Andhra Pradesh remains competitive with other progressive regions. "To gain national and global recognition, and to compete equally with other regions, we need world-class development," he asserted.
The Chief Minister drew comparisons with neighboring states, noting that Karnataka boasts Bengaluru, Tamil Nadu has Chennai, and Telangana is anchored by Hyderabad. He warned that relegating Amaravati to a small city status would inevitably push Andhra Pradesh behind economically. "That is why we decided to build a city better than Hyderabad," Naidu stated, outlining his ambitious vision for the capital.
Quantum Valley: India's Answer to Silicon Valley
Highlighting the rapid technological transformations that have reshaped global economies over the past three decades, Naidu positioned Amaravati as India's counterpart to America's Silicon Valley. "America has Silicon Valley. When people ask what India has, our answer is Quantum Valley in Amaravati," he proclaimed. He reflected on the earlier development of Cyberabad and announced the launch of Quantum Valley, signaling a new phase of technological innovation centered in the capital.
Infrastructure and Energy Reforms Paving the Way
Naidu traced the state's journey in power sector reforms, reminiscing about the electricity shortages that dominated assembly debates back in 1999. He proudly noted that India now leads globally in the power sector, being the only country with a single national power grid, while even the United States operates with four separate grids. The expansion of solar, wind, and pumped storage projects was highlighted as a key component of this progress.
Looking ahead, the Chief Minister predicted a dramatic transformation for the Amaravati-Guntur-Vijayawada region over the next decade. This transformation will include:
- The merger of the three municipal corporations
- The construction of a 182-kilometer outer ring road
- Dominance in renewable energy production
- Achievement of virtually zero pollution levels
Healthcare Innovations: Sanjeevani Project and Beyond
Naidu also detailed the government's Sanjeevani project, which aims to deliver quality medical services through advanced technology integration. The pilot program in Kuppam has already covered 70,000 clinical tests, with plans to establish digital health records for 72 lakh patients by 2026 via real-time monitoring systems.
In a forward-looking announcement, the Chief Minister revealed plans to introduce air ambulances in the near future and drone ambulances by 2026. He appealed to Non-Resident Indian (NRI) doctors to support patient care through virtual consultations and expert guidance, leveraging technology to bridge healthcare gaps.
Vision for the Future: Swarna Andhra 2047
Naidu expressed confidence in India's trajectory toward becoming the world's second-largest economy by 2038, with Andhra Pradesh steadily advancing toward the Swarna Andhra 2047 vision. His comprehensive address painted a picture of Amaravati not just as an administrative capital, but as a dynamic economic and technological hub designed to position Andhra Pradesh at the forefront of India's development story.
