High-Level Meeting in Sambalpur Focuses on 2027 Panchayat Elections
Odisha State Election Commissioner Madhusudan Padhi led a significant preparatory meeting in Sambalpur on Monday. The gathering took place at the conference hall of the revenue divisional commissioner's office for the northern range. This meeting forms a key part of the state's preparations for the forthcoming panchayat and urban local body elections.

Commissioner Padhi stressed the critical importance of preparing error-free electoral rolls during the first session. He emphasized ensuring adequate availability of ballot boxes for the election process. The meeting issued clear instructions to district collectors, sub-collectors, and returning officers regarding their specific roles and responsibilities.
Participants discussed several logistical aspects in detail. They reviewed the identification of polling station locations and the printing of ballot papers. Officials examined the finalization of counting centers and the return of unused Electronic Voting Machines to the State Election Commission.

With nearly a year remaining before the panchayat elections, the meeting focused heavily on capacity building. Discussions centered on election training programs for newly-appointed officers. Participants reviewed the preparation and revision of electoral rolls thoroughly.
The meeting covered inspection procedures for police stations and the closure of temporary polling booths. Delimitation of boundaries for newly formed municipalities and Notified Area Councils received attention. Reservation norms applicable to the three-tier panchayati raj system and urban elections came up for review.
