AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi has raised concerns over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process, stating that it will create a permanent class of excluded Indians. According to him, around 27 lakh individuals are still under adjudication, and many may apply afresh for voter enrollment through Form 6.
Owaisi's Statement on SIR
Speaking on the issue, Owaisi emphasized that the SIR process is not merely a routine administrative exercise but a mechanism that could lead to the systematic exclusion of certain communities. He argued that the large number of pending cases indicates a flawed system that fails to provide timely justice to affected individuals.
Impact on Voter Enrollment
Owaisi pointed out that those under adjudication may be forced to reapply using Form 6, which could further delay their inclusion in the electoral rolls. He warned that this could disenfranchise a significant portion of the population, particularly from marginalized groups.
The AIMIM chief called for a thorough review of the SIR process to ensure that no eligible citizen is left out. He urged the government to expedite the adjudication process and provide clear guidelines for those affected.
Political Reactions
Owaisi's remarks have sparked debate among political circles, with some supporting his concerns and others dismissing them as unfounded. The issue is expected to be raised in the upcoming parliamentary sessions.
